Timelines
We have used different timelines for years to help put history, science or other events in a tangible perspective. We used a notebook, but you could use a clothesline, poster board or any other number of methods.
Here are some timeline resources that I hope you find useful:
- Digital History
- Education World – Timelines
- Fasttrack to America’s Past
- History Mole (possibly my favorite– it provides a search feature)
- Timeline of Art History
- Timeline of Computer History
Those will get you started on dates, but just HOW do you make the timeline? Here are some resources for making a timeline as well.
- e-How’s timeline instructions
- Creating a timeline in Microsoft Word
- Do History
- Create a timeline using Excel
- wikiHow
- Timeline Index
Additionally, there are plenty of commercial resources out there, but I think you can find those on your own. One of my children liked to color and cut out pictures for the timeline. You can find a lot of great free clip art that helps you do just that. Here are a few free clip art sites:
Like most resources, there is no right way, just the way that works best for you!
