The Math Chef: Over 60 Math Activities and Recipes for Kids
This book by Karen Eich Drummond and Joan D’Amico offers some great hands-on opportunities to explore math while cooking. When I first saw the books title, I was interested in checking it out, but what prompted me to share it here were the chapter titles. They are:
- How Many Grams is a Pound of Potatoes?
- How Many Quarts is a Liter of Milk?
- How Long is That Giant Cookie?
- How Much Soup is in A Bowl of Soup?
- What Does a Handful of Pasta Weigh?
- How Do You Cook Candy?
- How Do You Triple a Sandwich Recipe?
- How Do You Cut and Applesauce Recipe in Half?
- How Much Lettuce Do You Need for Six Salads?
- What’s 1/3 of a Waffle?
- What’s the Percent of Margerine in a Muffin?
- What’s the Area of a Brownie?
- What’s the Diameter of a Cupcake?
- What’s the Circumference of a Pie?
I was able to find the book at the library, but you can purchase it here and see other books by both authors you may want to explore. I’d love to hear what you think after reading it?
